These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the developer of Gridless ("we," "our," or "us") and govern your use of the Gridless iOS application (the "App") and the gridless.chat website. By purchasing, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Your use of the App is also subject to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Where these Terms conflict with Apple's agreement, Apple's agreement controls with respect to your relationship with Apple.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store usage rules. We retain all right, title, and interest in the App, including all intellectual property rights. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of the App except to the extent the law permits despite this restriction.
Gridless is sold as a one-time purchase through the Apple App Store. Payment, billing, and refunds are handled entirely by Apple under Apple's terms — we never receive your payment details. Refund requests must be made through Apple.
Gridless has no accounts, no sign-up, and no servers. All messages, encryption keys, and settings exist only on your device. This is a privacy feature with a consequence: if you delete the app, wipe your data, lose your device, or trigger the brute-force auto-wipe, your data is permanently unrecoverable — by you, by us, or by anyone else. You accept this as an inherent property of the App's design.

Because Gridless is decentralized and unmonitored, we cannot moderate content on the mesh, but we may decline support and revoke your license where these Terms are violated.
Mesh delivery is best-effort and depends on nearby devices, radio conditions, battery, and factors outside anyone's control. Messages can be delayed or fail to deliver. Never rely on Gridless as your only means of requesting emergency assistance. Where available, always use official emergency services (such as 911, 112, or 000), satellite communicators, or Emergency SOS on your iPhone.
The App uses encryption. You are responsible for complying with any laws that apply to your use, import, or export of encryption software in your jurisdiction. You represent that you are not located in a jurisdiction where receipt of the App is prohibited, and that you are not on any government restricted-party list.
We collect no personal data. Our Privacy Policy explains what happens (and doesn't happen) to your information in detail. The short version: there are no servers, no analytics, and no data collection of any kind.
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT MESSAGES WILL BE DELIVERED. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, FAILED OR DELAYED MESSAGE DELIVERY, OR INABILITY TO COMMUNICATE — ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS EXCLUDES LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, INCLUDING ANY NON-EXCLUDABLE CONSUMER GUARANTEES IN YOUR JURISDICTION.
We may update the App and these Terms over time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continuing to use the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms remain in effect until terminated. They terminate automatically if you breach them. Upon termination, you must stop using the App and delete it. Sections 9, 10, and 13 survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer's principal place of business is located, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the consumer protection laws of your place of residence grant you non-waivable rights.
